Montreal Comic Con 2011 Weekend Craziness

Okay lets see, I spent the weekend catering to the rich and famous at the 2011 Montreal Comic Con, and it all started because I wanted to wear a yellow ti-shirt that I wasn't allowed to unless I was a volunteer. The problem was that after being told to remove it, I went and bought the exact ti-shirt, a red one this time and unfortunately or fortunately everyone assumed I was staff. Next thing I know, I had the caterers and security on speed-dial, an actual Canadian Forces General asking ME if I needed any military escorts for the guests and volunteers coming up to me asking if I needed anything to be done or what they needed to do next.

Yey me! I had people walking up to Stephenie asking her where was her sister (we're not sisters), the one in a red shirt, because there was a problem in the VIP room..... and so on went my weekend, a weekend I was technically supposed to spend with Stephenie helping her sell her jewellery at this year's convention.

The following are little incidents for which I'm pretty sure I will be remembered next year. Not in any famous way, more like infamous and also some of my impressions of the guests this year.

Stan Lee is your favorite grandpa full of mischief with his security aka Canadian soldiers who volunteered to keep him safe, btw they did a wonderful job.

Marina Sirtis aka Deanna Troi from TNG is a lovely woman whom I accidentally called chica, she got a giggle out of it.

Michael Dorn aka Worf from TNG gave me 200$ and two pictures to make copies because he ran out. Did that and accidentally became a person of interest with his agent know only as Gary. He thanked me for saving him from doing it.

Gil Gerard aka Buck Rogers in the 25th Century thanked me for making his stay pleasant and keeping him supplied in bottled water. I got a hug from him that cracked 2 of my ribs, well it felt like it. He was an absolute doll who took loads of pictures with Steph and me.

The only thing I can say about James Marsters aka Spike is how he takes his coffee. That is it!

Maria de Aragon aka Greedo in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was an amazing lady with whom I had a lot of fun, as well as spent time here and there talking. Steph and I took a picture with her.

Sargent Slaughter is cranky when he's hungry. I had the food delivered to the VIP guest room right away, which in turn make him more, well just more, human I think.

Vic Mignogna, voice actor of Edward Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist was my favorite this year. Not only was he nice but he remembered Steph from all the other conventions over the years. He signed my magnetic Ed Elric and let us hug him and take pictures without making us pay from them. Not to mention he's got one hell of a singing voice and was basically the biggest nerd there, and I love nerds.

Last, but not least this had to be the biggest snafu of my entire weekend. Some fan left a gift bag on Adam West's chair, as in Batman from the 60's and before someone decided to move it or even look at it, I had the brilliant idea of finding the closest security to come and check it out. I really wish I had kept it simple, because what I did next was not a good idea in a room full of people, though I thanked god most people thought I was either nuts or joking.

So there I was looking for the closest soldier I could find when I walked in the middle of Stan Lee's autograph session where I did find a soldier, oh yes, I found 8 of them. So me, and my big mouth, raised my voice and asked which one among them was trained in ordinance and explosives. Lets just say the room went really quiet and all eyes turned on me, yikes. One of soldiers stepped forward right away and I succinctly explained why and where I needed him. Turns out the gift was just that, a gift, nothing sinister, however I did acquire a fan because of it. Turns out the soldier never heard of a woman doing what I did, and when I asked him how come I didn't get an escort service while I was running around haggard he promptly answered that after what I'd done he'd follow me anywhere. Awww....

So that was my weekend, a weekend I might add I wanted to stay home. Really glad I didn't. Thank you Steph, I owe you, and thank you Owen for taking my spot and helping Steph after loosing me for the weekend to the glamorous life of "I cannot feel my feet anymore, please medicate me to the gills!"

PS Owen, I hope this is satisfactory as per your request. :)

Stormy Glenn's Honor Bound

Wow, I always loved Stormy Glenn's books, but this one blew me away. The main characters, Radulfr and Ein are beautiful together. Ein is and imp with gumption and Radulfr indulges him beautifully. This book made me cry and laugh out loud at the same time.

If this is the beginning of the series, I can't wait to read the next installment. A book worth every penny and it's weight in gold.
